Popularly referred to as the Bharatpur bird sanctuary, you will get more than 300 species of birds here. There are herons, saras and kingfisher. The forest also has animals like sambar, hyena, mongoose, chital and python. The beauty of the forests lies in the multicolored feather of its inhabitants. At the Python point you can see some pythons soaking the warmth of the sun.
This bird sanctuary is easily accessible from Delhi by road, rail and air. The nearest town and railway station is Bharatpur and it is only 2 km from the sanctuary. If you wish to go by air, the nearest airport is at Agra that is just 50 km away. There is no season that you can call special for visiting this bird sanctuary. You can go throughout the year and it will never cease to amaze you. Between the months of August and October, you will find a bewildering number of birds. This is the breeding season. If you intend to see the migratory birds then you should go between the months of October and February.
